Hunger in Central Florida 2006
In 2005, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, along with 170 food bank organizations nationwide, embarked on the most ambitious and comprehensive study of hunger ever undertaken in the United States.
In Central Florida, a total of 173 emergency feeding agencies were surveyed along with 433 face-to-face interviews with food assistance clients. The collected data was then compiled by Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., in early 2006.
Hunger in Central Florida 2006 provides a statistically valid and reliable look at hunger and poverty in our community. Just as important, the study provides a very real snapshot of who is hungry, and the challenges faced by the most vulnerable of our society.
