Philanthropy Camp

Summer Internship: May 13-July 26
Fall Internship: September 2- November 29
12 hour minimum

Compensation: Unpaid

Last year, Second Harvest piloted a Kids Club: a two-week summer program offered to children of food bank staff ages K-5 as a less expensive and unique alternative to other camps. After such a large success, we are looking to go bigger and better this year! This year, we would like to open the Kids Club up to the public, but also add an element of teaching philanthropy to an older group. Our original pilot was 15 children a week and this year we would like to increase that number to approximately 60 per week.

We are looking for interns to help in the planning process. This would include developing curriculum and corresponding activities around the topics of philanthropy, hunger, caring for neighbors and other human service needs, while still maintaining and implementing elements of fun.

Internship requirement:

1. Self-starter and organized
2. Ability to work well with others
3. Passion or interest in children and/or event planning
4. Available at least 2 days a week
5. Must be creative and have the ability to think outside of the box
6. Ability to develop programs with the ability to implement and execute them based on certain criteria and budgets
7. Ability to build a sustainable program model
8. Proficient in Excel, Word and Powerpoint
